Sling Shot 965 – 8′ 3/8 to 1 oz
This eight-footer has a medium-power rating, It boasts excellent action for light lures, including spoons, poppers, buck tails and lead heads, showing off an extremely wide weight range. It throws a 1/8 ounce led head and curly tail as far as many rods would throw a spoon, but is also capable of throwing up to one-ounce buck tail or light bait. The tip is a moderate action with the top foot being somewhat stiffer than the top of the mid-section for awesome action with jerk shads and spook baits. It also helps it throw lighter weights by having a “self-loading tip” almost working like a fly rod to use the weight of the tip to throw the lure rather than the weight of the lure being needed to load the rod. This also makes it work great for weak fish so as to not pull the hook out of their mouth as you would with too stiff of a rod. This also works good for casting lures around pilings for striped bass or throwing goofy jigs in the surf for pompano.
